We are saddened to learn of the death of Canterbury Hellfire Wheelchair Rugby Club Chairman, Brian Pitchford, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Brian had been involved with Canterbury Hellfire Wheelchair Rugby Club since the first taster sessions in 2013. Brian started out helping with the organisation of the club and a few years later took over the running of the first wheelchair rugby club in South East England. The club went from strength to strength, moving up the leagues very quickly and gaining promotion to the top division.
Brian devoted a large amount of his time to providing opportunities for disabled people to take part in wheelchair rugby, and built strong links within the local community.
The whole of the GB Wheelchair Rugby family will miss Brian and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues at Canterbury Hellfire Wheelchair Rugby Club.
